🐾 International Dog Day 2025 – Celebrating Our Canine Companions | Consensus HR, Herts & Beds
🐾 International Dog Day – 26th August | Celebrating Our Canine Companions
Every year on 26th August, the world celebrates International Dog Day—a day dedicated to raising awareness about adoption, rescue, and the incredible role dogs play in our lives.
Founded in 2004 by pet lifestyle expert Colleen Paige, International Dog Day is about much more than simply sharing adorable dog photos. It’s about recognising the joy, loyalty, and companionship dogs bring to our lives, as well as supporting those still waiting for their forever homes.
Why International Dog Day Matters
-
Promotes adoption – spotlighting the millions of dogs in shelters needing homes.
-
Recognises working dogs – from guide dogs to police and rescue dogs, their contributions are invaluable.
-
Encourages responsible ownership – reminding us of the duties of pet care, training, and welfare.
Ways to Celebrate
🐶 Adopt or foster – give a shelter dog a loving home.
🐶 Donate or volunteer – support your local animal charities and shelters.
🐶 Celebrate your dog – share photos, go for an extra walk, or spoil them with a new toy.
🐶 Raise awareness – post on social media using hashtags such as #InternationalDogDay and #DogRescue.
Comment from Matthew Chilcott – Owner, Consensus HR
“International Dog Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the unconditional love and companionship dogs bring to our lives. Beyond the cuddles and joy, it is also a time to support shelters and rescues, and to remind ourselves of the responsibility that comes with caring for our four-legged friends.”
