National Grief Awareness Week 2025 – Supporting Employees Through Loss | Consensus HR
🌍 Thursday Blog – Awareness Day
National Grief Awareness Week – 2nd to 8th December: Supporting Employees Through Loss
National Grief Awareness Week raises awareness of the impact of bereavement and the importance of compassionate support in the workplace.
Employees experiencing grief may struggle with concentration, communication, attendance or productivity. Employers should consider:
Offering compassionate leave
Providing access to EAPs or support services
Handling conversations sensitively
Making temporary adjustments to duties
Under the Parental Bereavement Leave Regulations, eligible parents have a statutory right to paid leave following the loss of a child.
At Consensus HR, we help employers create policies that balance legal compliance with genuine care and support for their teams.
Comment from Matthew Chilcott – Owner:
“Grief affects each person differently. A supportive approach not only meets legal duties but strengthens trust and culture within your business.”
